Community Involvement in the North
The Explorer Hotel and its sister companies, the Frobisher Inn (Iqaluit) and Nunastar Properties Inc. (Edmonton and Iqaluit) proudly made contributions of over $200,000 to several non-profit organizations in both the Northwest Territories and Nunavut in 2009.
A Recent Explorer Hotel Community Contribution:
"A Delicious Learning Tool: Explorer Hotel Donates Soup to Schools so Kids Can Focus on Studies"
As reported in the Yellowknifer newspaper, the Explorer recently initiated a program to serve 700 bowls of soup each week to the Breakfast for Learning program. A number of schools in Yellowknife and around the NWT participate in this program which feeds kids so that instead of being hungry they can focus on their school work.
